Child development minister seeks 2 lakh crore


Women and Child Welfare Minister Krishna Tirath on Wednesday said that her ministry has sought about Rs two lakh crore in the next plan to for scheme to get rid of the problem. It was came a day after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said malnutrition a national shame.
Tirath said that for the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme we have sought about Rs 2 lakh crore in the next five year plan. It is four times the amount authorized in the earlier plan.
Civil society survey said 42% of children under five years were malnourished and we need to validate by following up with the government’s NFHS, she added.

Jaganmohan Reddy continues fast in Telangana


48 hour fast of YSR Congress party leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy in Armoor town of Nizamabad district entered the second day Wednesday along with tight security. Jaganmohan Reddy’s past to underline the problems facing by the farmers in Andhra Pradesh has entered the second day.
A large number of farmers and supporters came to the hunger strike camp to call on the Kadapa MP. Jaganmohan Reddy began is fast on Tuesday night.
Addressing the people Tuesday night Kadapa MP criticized the Congress Government for not addressing the problems, which is faced by the farmers, he said farmers facing severe hardships as they were not being paid remunerative prices for their produce and due to lack of financial support from the government.

Thota kotti cheppina Balayya @ Vijayawada


Nandamuri Balakrishna has finally announced his entry to active politics. "Besides campaigning for the TDP, I will also contest the elections in 2014," the actor said in Vijayawada on Saturday. Balakrishna was in Vijayawada to celebrate the success of his latest hit Sri Rama Rajyam.

Though TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu planned to field Balakrishna in the 2009 elections, he changed his mind and used him as a star campaigner instead. "I have campaigned for the TDP in several elections. But this time, I will contest the elections too," Balakrishna told reporters..

Asked whether any other member of the NTR family would contest in the 2014 elections, Balakrishna said: “We are not forcing anyone.” To the question for which seat he would contest, the actor said, “I will contest any Assembly seat as directed by the party." However, sources said that that Balakrishna may opt for the Hindupur seat, once represented in the Assembly by his father NTR.
